Digital Imaging/ Heat Transfer Technology
The majority of my work is printed using professional heat transfers. There are always pros and cons with every choice...but after some consideration the choice to go with a heat transfer product over screening won hands down. Using a heat transfer product gives me a much greater command of color, allows me to print one custom shirt almost as effectively as a large order...and it is affordable for both the seller and the buyer.
I work with two types of heat transfer product
one that is translucent
and one that is opaque. The translucent product is meant for white or light colored fabrics and calls for a greater command of color knowledge. It has a softer feel and becomes even softer after the first washing. It is slightly less expensive and time consuming to use than the opaque. It does not bleed or wash off
some of them, however, may fade slightly faster than others because I choose to use 100% cotton t-shirts. Fading is the nature of cotton
I consider this to be part of the aging process and not a defect.
The opaque product covers dark colors and black extremely well
it has a slightly firmer feel than the opaque which helps it to retain vivid color washing after washing. Even on 100% cotton the color holds extremely well
mostly due to the heavier nature of the transfer. It is the best paper by far that I have used to cover dark fabric.
Quality Name Brand Shirts
Quality and comfort are extremely important, therefore...100% cotton (unless otherwise noted), first rate, name brand shirts are use to print or paint all designs.
Among the most trusted brands are Anvil, Gildan, Jerzees, Classic Girl, Bella, Port & Company and Lee. I have found these to wash well, hold their shape, and generally stand up to the test of time. Quality is not compromised...if it doesn't pass the test...it doesn't become part of the inventory.
